Why do you need a screen editor? The answer is: to fully customize your system. While other systems may offer a few “user-defined” fields on some pre-determined screen and call that “customization”, OPEN4 supports your ability to add completely new information categories, entire new screens, and much more.

No system (regardless of price) is going to do everything your way – but our screen editor allows you to mold the system to your operation to an extent not possible in most other products. The editor is specifically designed for a non-technical power user. Your IT department’s assistance should not be necessary except in complex cases.

Your newly added screen/tab/field is immediately known to OPEN4. It is immediately available to our report writer and query, and is eligible for field-level security. And don’t worry about later releases wiping out your changes – OPEN4 is specifically designed to support changes that you may make in the future.

Like the report writer, OPEN4’s screen editor duplicates the look of the generated final product. You may use the screen editor to add new fields – where you want them, to add new tabs – where you want them, or to create entirely new screens.

You can change labels on existing screens or add a new subject category to store data that’s specific to your organization. You can copy one of our screens and modify it to yield your own custom version. It only takes minutes to generate a new customized screen, and as soon as you’re done, it’s immediately available to all users.
